Try typing in the WEP "key 1" numbers (not the actual password or passphrase) They are located in the "wireless security" settings. Go to Wireless/Wireless Security and they should be right there. If Default Transmit Key "1" is marked use "key 1" numbers, if "2" is marked use "key 2" numbers, etc. And then I tried your solution I lowerd my wifi channel and the phone instantly connected. We bought a Linksys router (WRT54G2) Now, the daughter can connect to the net, no prob, but my son with the new ipod cannot. My network is listed on the ipod, but it will not let him connect to the network here. Is this what I am looking for - what is known as the "key"? Anyone with Ipod touch WIFi linksys issues needs to read your solution. Even more disappointed that Linksys wanted to charge me .00 to supposedly fix my problem after speaking with one person who said I would need to be connected to some special dept who handles the IPOD problems!! I don't know if this will work for you, but it worked for me: Changed the Wifi channel on the router to a lower one Once I did this it started working immediately, and the Wifi signal strength was even much better than before.
I turned off wifi wifi on the iphone then went to my home wifi network wi fi network and in settings clicked forget this network.
Then I re-entered my wifi network password password and I could connected again to safari and my e-mails straight away.
Look for number 3) you'll see this: 3)Manual Configuration Method For client devices without WPS, manually configure the device with the following settings. write any password you chose and then hit "generate". This will take a few seconds when done use the 10 digits under "Key 1" on the router as your Wifi password on your i Phone.
Network Name (SSID) : MARYKATE-PC_Network Wireless Security : Configured Network Authentication : WPA PSK Data Encryption : TKIP Network Key (PSK) : Cxx O3h2c G9gn Vj Sy This is my security key minus a few numbers.
It is longer than the i Phone but don't give up keep typing! THANK YOU With Linksys router, you need to make sure that the settings on the "Wireless MAC Filter" tab are not preventing your i Phone from accessing the wireless network.
Also, I made sure I used the capitals and lowerclass just in case. As the password, I just used the WPA Shared Key (as I thought), but I needed to disable the Wireless MAC Filter for the i Phone to get access. It seems that the Upgrade process in i Tunes has some variability. I wasn't even being offered the opportunity to enter one. I tried everything else but this is what did the trick for me. After racking my brain for several hours I ran across this.Tried everything logical and then resetting the network settings provided the Eureka moment. Before that it wouldn't accept the password - even though it was right. Have an Ipod touch and it would not allow me to put a password in it just would automatically connect without the password! hi Make sure you know the password if your wifi is secured. write a 10 digit number in the passphrase box and hit "generate". Some keys get generated; I used Key 1 on the i Phone when it asks for the password and it connected immediately. I setup a home network sometime ago and all was working fine, i.e., ethernet as well as wifi. All of a sudden, only in certain places in the house could be connected, and eventually not even sitting right next to the router. My internet comes to D-link 655 wireless router from there I have wired connection, one of the connection goes to a switch from this switch I connect wired devices in my office.Another connection from D-link 655 router goes to another wireless router in my living room which is a Linksys router. : ) I ended up typing in my pass phase word and it worked with that! I was trying this and it still didn't work until I changed my " WEP key 1" to only numbers and no letters, I then typed the same numbers as my password on the ipod and it worked, it only took me an hour and a half to figure it out. There seemed to be a miscommunication between the letters in my key and the letters on my ipod WTF manage wireless networks then click properties of what router did you use if you know the password but if you cant connect, just replace the new password on the security tab of your router properties..maybe it has changed..thats for computers and laptops.others like cellphones of ipod's just restore your network settings then connect it will ask you again for a password then enter the correct password.will connect you to your router 100%..ahaha thanks..
